HOW CARBONLESS PAPER WORKS?

What is Carbonless Printing Paper?
NCR paper is also called no carbon required paper ,with the function of direct copying and color rendering.
Carbonless paper features a convenient two-ply or multi-ply design which produces a white, yellow or blue copy. This results in one or several copies for you and your clients. This type of paper is often used in credit card machines.

With carbonless paper, the copy is made by a chemical reaction between two different coatings, which are generally applied to the front and back of a base paper. This color reaction is caused by pressure/heat by the printhead.Coatings on multi-part carbonless forms
The first ply and uppermost layer (CB = Coated Back) consists of microcapsules containing a colorless but color-producing substance. When the printhead's pressure is exerted on these capsules, they burst and release the color-producing substance, which is then absorbed by the second layer (CF = Coated Front). This CF layer consists of a reactive substance that combines with the color-releasing substance to produce the copy.

In the case of form sets with more than two sheets, another sheet is required as a central page that receives the copy and passes it on (CFB = Coated Front and Back).
